The Shimano Alivio SL-M3100 2-Speed Mono Shifter for 9-Speed Shifters & Derailleurs
The Shimano Alivio SL-M3100 Mono is intended as a left-hand 2-speed shifter for mountain bikes with 9-speed shifting systems and features only one lever. This can be used to shift up as well as down, which makes changing gears very easy. Thanks to 2-Way Release technology, the shift cable is released either by a press of a thumb or by pulling with the index finger. The Rapidfire Plus model also impresses with good accessibility and fast, smooth operation. It is attached to the handlebar by means of a clamp and has a shift cable adjuster. The housing is made of aluminium, the lever is made of a steel-synthetic resin mixture. An inner cable with friction-reducing coating is included.

Shimano Rapidfire Plus Mono shift levers are only available for the left side, because they shift the front derailleur. In contrast to regular Rapidfire Plus models, only one lever is installed here, which is used for both upshifting and downshifting. This is practical and accommodates natural finger positions. You change the chainring comfortably while keeping a firm grip on the handlebars and concentrating on the ride.

2-Way-Release
With 2-Way-Release, the shifter can be pressed and pulled to shift to the smaller sprocket or chainring. This allows you to adjust the shifting process to your personal preferences. Most Rapidfire Plus shifters are equipped with 2-Way Release.
