The Shimano Ultegra RX RD-RX800 rear derailleur is designed for road bikes, but features Shadow+ technology previously reserved for MTBs. In the process, a stabiliser mechanism that can be switched on and off ensures that friction is dampened, which significantly reduces the risk of chain slamming and dropping on uneven, non-asphalted ground. This makes the RD-RX800 perfect for cyclocross, gravel and adventure riders who demand a high level of safety in addition to the typical Shimano shifting precision. With its aluminium cages of the longer GS type, the Ultegra RX rear derailleur is suitable for 11-speed cassettes from 11-28 to 11-34 teeth. A direct mount option is also available.

Shadow Plus rear derailleurs are just as low-profile as Shimano’s Shadow rear derailleurs. In addition, a stabilizer with on/off switch is used to reduce chain slap and thus counteract chain drop. At the same time, this results in a quieter drive. Weight is also saved compared to other chain restraint devices.

OT-RS900
For Dura-Ace RD-R9100, Ultegra RD-R8000, 105 RD-R7000 and other 11-speed road or gravel rear derailleurs, Shimano has developed the special OT-RS900 cable housing. It is less stiff than the conventional OT-SP41 housing and is therefore better suited to the tight curve where the cable is routed from the frame to the rear derailleur. Thanks to OT-RS900, problems with the barrel adjuster can be prevented and the rear wheel can be removed more easily. OT-RS900 is not intended for use on the shift/brake lever side.
