The XT rear derailleur RD-M8000 by Shimano – easier to use
The Shimano XT RD-M8000 rear derailleur features a Shadow Plus mechanism that allows you to switch between maximum chain stability and minimum operating forces. The extremely low profile and the flat angle of attack also benefit safety on difficult, narrow trails. In addition, compared to its predecessors, the RD-M8000 knows how to handle a slanted chain better and has larger derailleur pulley teeth for even smoother shifting performance. In the Dyna-Sys11 system, it thus performs its service efficiently and permanently. Both cages of the rear derailleur are made of lightweight aluminium. The shorter version (GS) is compatible with 1×11 and 2×11-speed gears and cassettes up to 46 or 42 teeth. In the long version (SGS) it can also be used for 3×11-speed drivetrains with an 11-40 cassette.

Dyna-Sys11 is the name of the 11-speed shifting system for MTBs from Shimano. The focus lies on maintaining the pedalling rhythm both on flat ground and on uphill segments. The gear ratios are selected so that you make efficient progress in the most frequently used gear range and do not have to shift gears as much (” Rhythm Step” ).

Shadow RD+
Shadow Plus rear derailleurs are just as low-profile as Shimano’s Shadow rear derailleurs. In addition, a stabilizer with on/off switch is used to reduce chain slap and thus counteract chain drop. At the same time, this results in a quieter drive. Weight is also saved compared to other chain restraint devices.
