Shimano XT SL-M8000-I 2-/3-/11-speed Shifter W/ I-Spec II

The XT SL-M8000-I shifter by Shimano – even more flexible thanks to I-Spec II
The Shimano XT SL-M8000-I shifter can be adjusted to the rider’s needs in both position and rotation thanks to I-Spec II construction, resulting in the greatest possible ergonomics. It is mounted on the handlebars with the help of a matching brake lever to save space and weight. SL-M8000-I features ergonomic, differently textured levers and a further improved Vivid Index mechanism – always known for crisp feedback. The left XT shifter can be used for 2×11-speed as well as for 3×11-speed drivetrains without a mode converter. The model comes with an Optislick cable, which reduces the effort required to shift gears by 20%.
Thanks to Rapidfire Plus technology, the shifter can shift down several gears at once and features the 2-Way Release function, which allows the shifter cable to be released by pulling with the index finger as well as pressing with the thumb. Of course, Instant Release for accelerated gear changes and – in the 11-speed version – Multi Release for the fastest possible shifting in both directions are also on board.

Rapidfire Plus is a type of Shimano shift lever construction that has been common in the mountain bike sector since 1985. Two levers, the main lever and the release lever, are used instead of a twist shifter. Rapidfire Plus shift levers, as the name suggests, ensure fast shifting. In addition, depending on the model, it is possible to downshift up to three gears with one shift stroke.

2-Way-Release
With 2-Way-Release, the shifter can be pressed and pulled to shift to the smaller sprocket or chainring. This allows you to adjust the shifting process to your personal preferences. Most Rapidfire Plus shifters are equipped with 2-Way Release.

Instant Release
With Instant Release, the spring and thus the cable are released immediately when the lever is actuated, which ensures an enormously fast shifting process. The delay caused by a two-step shifting process with click and release is eliminated, so that the gear change is considerably accelerated and improved.

Multi Release
With the Multi Release, which only affects the right-hand shift lever, two gears can be shifted with one actuation of the release lever without loss of shifting speed. This is independent of whether you use a Top-Normal or a Low-Normal rear derailleur.

I-Spec II
I-Spec II describes a variant of the connection between the brake lever and the shift lever on MTB or, more precisely, flatbar gears from Shimano. This type of mount makes for a tidy cockpit as it reduces the number of clamps needed. On some models it is also possible to adjust the shift lever both horizontally and vertically in relation to the brake lever. Then there is 12 mm of adjustment travel in the longitudinal direction and/or up to 15° of rotation – for optimum ergonomic adaptation to your riding style, seat position and anatomy.
