The XTR SL-M9100 Mono shifter by Shimano – one lever, no problems
The Shimano XTR SL-M9100 mono 2x shifter is based on the well known Rapidfire Plus and 2-Way Release technologies and achieves a revolutionary new functionality. It is only equipped with a single lever that allows you to shift to the large or small chainring. Push the lever forward to shift up and it will stay in this position. If you want to change down again, press it again with your thumb or pull it with your index finger. The front derailleur could never be operated more intuitively, which clearly benefits focus while racing.
The SL-M9100-I shifter, which is mounted with a classic handlebar clamp, also has other interesting features. The two rubber contact surfaces provide more grip and the 4x bearings stand for smooth, long-lasting function. Last but not least, the Instant Release Technology guarantees an immediate release of the shift cable. By the way, this one is polymer-coated and is supplied just like the cable housing.

Shimano Rapidfire Plus Mono shift levers are only available for the left side, because they shift the front derailleur. In contrast to regular Rapidfire Plus models, only one lever is installed here, which is used for both upshifting and downshifting. This is practical and accommodates natural finger positions. You change the chainring comfortably while keeping a firm grip on the handlebars and concentrating on the ride.

2-Way-Release
With 2-Way-Release, the shifter can be pressed and pulled to shift to the smaller sprocket or chainring. This allows you to adjust the shifting process to your personal preferences. Most Rapidfire Plus shifters are equipped with 2-Way Release.

Instant Release
With Instant Release, the spring and thus the cable are released immediately when the lever is actuated, which ensures an enormously fast shifting process. The delay caused by a two-step shifting process with click and release is eliminated, so that the gear change is considerably accelerated and improved.
